Mendenhall Glacier

You are advised to avoid bringing food and beverages that might attract bears. However, we did not see any bears or other wildlife during our May visit. We did see a porcupine in a tree, but it was not enough to frighten us.

Mendenhall Glacier is not far away from downtown Juneau. You can reach it by car or taxi. Alternatively, you can hike to the viewpoint. The trail is only 0.15 miles long, and is paved. Those who are disabled can also use wheelchairs on the trail.

Mendenhall Glacier is one of the most popular places to visit in Juneau. It is located about 12 miles from downtown Juneau. It is the most accessible glacier in the area. It is a spectacular sight to see on a cloudy day, especially during late afternoon.

Tracy Arm Fjord

You can enjoy live music in the restaurant, drink beer or wine, and enjoy a great meal.

If you’re looking for a fun activity while in Juneau, consider going to the Last Chance Mining Museum. It’s one of the last remaining historic buildings of the old Alaska Juneau Gold Mining company, and it provides an insight into the history of hard rock mining in Juneau. It’s an excellent place for a picnic, but it’s best accessed by car, as it’s not accessible by tourist buses.

There are 43 named waterfalls in Alaska, and the waterfall at Gold Creek Salmon Bake is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the area. There is also a large air compressor and an underground exhibit. There is a $5 entry fee. The museum is about a two-mile walk from the cruise ship docks. During the summer months, it is open daily. The museum is also open by appointment throughout the rest of the year.

Glacier Bay is a bird watcher’s paradise. The area is home to Arctic Terns, which migrate from the Bay to Antarctica. The area also contains several lakes and rivers, and six ten thousand-foot mountains tower over the region.
